Janice Eileen Jones, 74, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, in hospice care in North Vancouver, surrounded by her loving family and her beloved dog, Miley.
Born on January 1, 1952, in Fredericton, Janice spent most of her life in North Vancouver, where she built a beautiful life rooted in family, friendship, and community.
Janice devoted over thirty years to teaching Grade One and Two, shaping young lives with patience, warmth, and enthusiasm. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome. Energetic, kind, and endlessly friendly, she formed connections wherever she went.
Her greatest passion was being a mom. She loved her family and friends unconditionally and took immense joy in time spent together. Janice also found happiness in quilting, gardening, swimming, reading, long walks-especially at Ambleside Park-and lively card games around the table. She delighted in dressing up in cheesy, festive outfits at Christmas, bringing laughter and light to those around her.
She is survived by her loving husband Doug; her son Josh; her daughter Megan; her brother Don; her sister Kathy; her large extended family; her many friends and her adopted Ukrainian family, Marina, Mira, and Sviatozar.
A special thanks to all of Jan's doctors for their excellent care over her last years and in lieu of flowers, donations to Paul Sugar Palliative Foundation would be amazing.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Highlands United Church in Edgemont Village.
