DR. PAUL SUGAR - PALLIATIVE CARE PHYSICIAN (retired)

Dr. Paul Sugar has had a remarkable impact on the lives and deaths of British Columbians.
The excellence of his medical care, utmost dedication to his patients and his availability have been extraordinary. His practice is not distinguished by the quantity of patients he assists, but rather by the quality of tender care he willingly gives them - his time is theirs
With his attentive, loving approach and gentle touch, he eliminates fear and anxiety, reduces suffering, provides realistic encouragement and puts a smile on every patient's face....priceless gifts at the end of life.
He has a wonderful perceptive ability to meet people where they are and then to walk with them as they journey through wellness, illness and dying.
He embraces the individual as a whole, cares for the patient as a person and honors people with his time and his heart, tirelessly serving the community as our palliative care physician.
In 2012, he was the recipient of 2 HEABC Excellence in BC healthcare awards - the VCH Health Care Hero Award and the Provincial Health Care Hero Award.
