In memory of Bruce Elgin Lounds
Bruce Elgin Lounds, BASc, MBA, P. Eng.
June 3, 1943 to July 2, 2015
North Vancouver, B.C.
On July 2, 2015, Bruce Lounds passed away peacefully after a determined and valiant fight against cancer, surrounded by abundant love and without regrets or fears.
Throughout his life, he inspired everyone with his unshakeable disposition, positive attitude, and of course his radiant smile.
Thinking about his new life without cancer brought positive joy to his soul and gave him an unwavering smile. He looked forward to meeting up with his late sons, Chris and Scott, and was planning to check-in with the starter for tee times. Bruce now has his very own “happy-ever-after ending”.
His adoring wife, Grace (Evans) Lindsay, felt "heaven on earth" with Bruce. Their love continued to grow every minute and he graciously transferred his positive spirit to her. Bruce cherished his family: daughter Beth Close and her husband Kevin Close, grandchildren Alexander and Marion Close, step-sons David and Michael Evans, sister Ruth Dover and her husband Bill Dover, and all of his Dover, Lindsay, Evans and Lounds family. His kind, generous, positive, and loving spirit will guide his loved ones and he will be whispering in all of their left ears.
Bruce was highly accomplished in the oil and gas sector: a recognized leader in the heavy oil business and regulatory affairs. His contributions were widely applauded, during his 28+ year career with BP/Amoco Canada, time on Syncrude’s Board of Directors, role as President of the Canadian Heavy Oil Association, and tenure on SAIT’s Board of Governors. He was highly respected for his strategic, engineering, and leadership capabilities and Bruce always gave credit to his team. Bruce always led by example and in doing so, was a great role model and mentor to others. Bruce never backed down from his convictions and he used his retirement years to actively support and advocate for causes he believed in.
In his new home, Bruce will be following his passions for golf, skiing, boating, curling, reading and learning. He might finally fix that slice! As well, he will be looking for euchre and bridge partners.
Thank you to Dr. Charles Scudamore, Dr. Paul Klimo, Dr. Sasha Smiljanic, Dr. Paul Sugar, Dr. Bryce Kelpin, Dr. Huan Giap (Scripps) and all of their teams for helping Bruce during his valiant fight. Thanks also to the caring staff at Vancouver General and Lions Gate hospitals.
Friends are welcome to join family at an upbeat event called “Positively Bruce” on Friday, July 24th at 2:30 pm at Seymour Golf and Country Club in North Vancouver, B.C. Dress: Golf Attire
