IN MEMORY OF Dianne Pink
Dianne Elizabeth Pink (Nee Baldwin)
June 28th, 1944 - May 1, 2024
Loved beyond compare, our beautiful mother Dianne passed away peacefully in her home with her children, Stephanie and Derek, by her side. She was cared for by all with unwavering devotion as she faced the challenges of illness. Alongside many wonderful caregivers, she was blessed with countless visits from lifelong friends, family, and colleagues from near and far. Their love and support filled her days with grace and warmth.
Dianne was a wonderful teacher who advocated for others and treated everyone with patience and kindness. Her uniquely infectious sense of humor kept us all smiling. Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched the lives of all who knew her, and she believed in the power of education to transform lives, dedicating herself to nurturing young minds with care and understanding.
Dianne is survived by her daughter Stephanie and son Derek (Jennifer), her adored grandchildren Charlotte, Candice, Clark, and Charleigh. She was predeceased by her first daughter Cynthia and husband David. The eldest of three children of Dr. John Henry (Jack) and Elizabeth (Betty) Baldwin, Dianne was born in Winnipeg and raised in Nanaimo with her beloved siblings Robert (Bob) and Cynthia. She was also predeceased by her brother Bob and treasured sister-in-law Patti. From their love, Dianne was blessed with Scott, Eric, and Amy, and their growing families. Dianne is also survived by her sister Cynthia and children Michael and Lindsay. Also, many relatives on the Pink side and special cousins Wil, Wendy, and Susan, who spent many hours on the phone and at Di’s side, enjoying a laugh.
After growing up in Nanaimo, Dianne graduated from the University of British Columbia. Dianne and David met on a BC Ferry while David was on the West Coast for naval training. They were married and lived in Halifax and Hamilton early on but moved to make North Vancouver their home. Dianne went on to obtain her Masters in Early Childhood Education at UBC.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Paul Sugar Palliative Support Foundation would be appreciated. Dr. Sugar and VCH provided invaluable comfort and assistance, ensuring Dianne was surrounded by care and compassion until the end. You can find more information about the foundation and donate at www.paulsugarfoundation.com.
Her legacy of empathy, generosity, and her special brand of humor will forever inspire us. Mom's love knew no bounds, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
A celebration of life on what would have been her 80th birthday will be hosted on June 28th from 3pm onwards. Please RSVP for address and information if you would like to attend by emailing [email protected].
