IN MEMORY OF GLORIA KAYE LORENZ

Picture
Gloria Kaye Lorenz
March 1, 1951 – July 24, 2023

Gloria passed away peacefully at The North Shore Hospice in North Vancouver, B.C, at the age of 72 years, after a courageous battle with Cancer.

Predeceased by her parents, Elgin and Catherine Ewing, Gloria is survived by her brother Ken Ewing (Marvalie) and sister Charlene (Stefano) Valdo; nephews Nicholas and Christopher Ewing and their families; nephew Julian Valdo, niece Vienna Valdo and many cousins.

Gloria was born in Calgary, Alberta and moved with her family to Edmonton in 1962 where she stayed until moving to Vancouver in 1973.  She loved Vancouver for the beauty of the ocean, trees, flowers, birds and vibrant community.

Gloria’s career was in sales and she received the President’s Top Sales Award from Yellow Pages Advertising and was successful in many other companies that she worked with in her life.

She was passionate about music and art and loved to go out to events where she could enjoy these things and share them with her friends. She loved to dress up and always looked stunning wherever she went.

During her latest years, she spent much time going to gardens and admiring beautiful flowers and birds.  Her favorite places were Bloedel Conservatory at Queen Elizabeth Park, Park & Tilford Garden in North Vancouver and Mosquito Creek Park, she said she didn’t like that name so she named it “Fern Grotta”.  This was the last place that Paul and Marylene took her a week before she passed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Sugar and Marylene of The Paul Sugar Palliative Support Foundation, and her close friend Amina Rajan who went beyond their means and expectations to keep her comfortable and make her happy during her last months. Thank you to her dear cousin Joan, friends Mary Ann and Mary Ann, Maryam and long-time friend Johanne for many visits and long phone calls.

If family and friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Gloria’s name to: www.paulsugarfoundation.com

MEMORIAL DONATION
IN YOUR GARDEN

I can feel you everywhere
Despite you being gone
In birds flying in the air
your voice
Is in their song

It doesn’t matter
Where you went
It’s what you left behind
The seeds you planted
In your garden
Reach for you
In the sky

I know you feed them
with the rain
And with your sunshine glow
They still bloom
Despite the pain
Because you made them grow.
-       One of one.
