In memory of Margaret Houston
We lost our Mom, Nana and friend, Margaret Houston (nee McLean) on the morning of January 17, 2015 at Evergreen House.
Margaret was always close to family, and with her last breath, she was surrounded with the love and admiration of her family by her side. Mom takes a much-deserved break from this life to be with her parents, Robert and Margaret Mclean, her older brother, John, and will finally be reunited with her twin brother, who passed away shortly after birth.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1932, mom never lost her desire to survive, conquer, and carry on. Despite an array of challenging health issues, Mom would never give up on life and would always be there for anyone who needed her – and never turned down a cup of tea. Unfortunately, her body was not able to keep up with her strong spirit.
Margaret spent the past year living at Churchill House where she met new friends and adapted to assisted-care living. Following long days and nights from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve at Lions Gate Hospital, mom appreciated her final weeks with tender and loving care from the amazing staff at Evergreen House (particularly 2 North).
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Sugar for his priceless support for the care and attention he gave mom during her last days. In addition, he supported our family when we felt alone and frightened for what was to come.
A small private gathering on the Spring Equinox will occur in the Boal Memorial Gardens where Margaret will spend her days watching over the gardens.
